Postpartum Program
Pregnancy changes the body in many ways, some changes not so pleasant. The growing weight of the child messes with your pelvic floor, puts a lot of weight on your lower back, and most obviously, stretches your abdominal muscles.
This postpartum program focuses on core recovery – rebuilding your abdominal muscles and tightening your stomach. It is mostly bodyweight but there are a few moves that ask for weights or a resistance band. The program is designed to be able to do at home and the workouts are around 20 minutes long.
Rebuilding your core is more than just tightening your tummy. It strengthens your stabilizing muscles. It helps straighten up that “pregnancy posture” which is the main cause of back pain in the early postpartum. A strong core is foundational to a healthy body and ease of movement.
It is recommended to wait until you are 6 weeks postpartum before beginning this program, unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. As always, get your doctor’s approval before starting your fitness routine postpartum.
